For Incoming Exchange Students

Every year, hundreds of students from all over the world join BME as exchange students through Erasmus+ or other mobility programmes. We can’t wait to welcome you to our vibrant international community!

What do you need to do before the mobility?

Get Nominated – If you’re coming through Erasmus+, make sure your home university nominates you first. Contact your International Relations Office for details. 

  • Application Periods – Applications are open twice a year: 
  • Fall semester: 1 March – 15 May  
  • Spring semester: 1 October  – 30 November

Prepare for Your Arrival – Get your visa, find accommodation, and check out our practical info section below!) 

Students nominated by their home university for Erasmus+ should follow these steps:  

Application Requirements

Complete and submit your application via our platform. Email applications will not be accepted. 

Important: Applications sent via email will not be accepted. 

If you apply by 30 November, 2025, you will receive your Letter of Acceptance by 20 December, 2025. 

Copy of identification documentCopy of your national ID card (EU citizens) or a passport. 

Academic Transcript: Transcript of academic records from your home university (English version required) 

English Proficiency Proof: Proof of English proficiency (B2 level or higher, CEFR). Accepted tests: 

  • IELTS: min. 6 
  • Cambridge (PET, FCE, CAE, CPE): min. 160 
  • TOEFL iBT: min. 72 
  • TOEFL ITP: min. 543 
  • TOEIC (Reading & Listening): min. 785 
  • TOEIC (Speaking & Writing): min. 310 
  • PTE Academic: min. 59 
  • Pearson Edexcel Level 1 ESOL International: pass 

 

Letter of Declaration (if applicable for thesis/research work). 

BSc Degree Certificate (only for MSc-level applicants for MSc-level courses in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering).).

If your home university is not a partner of BME

or there is not enough Erasmus slots for you, you are welcome to join us as an incoming international FREEMOVER/ Fee-Paying student

Application, courses

Applications are open twice a year: 

Fall semester: 1 March – 15 May  

Spring semester: 1 October  – 30 November  

Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral level programmes in Engineering, Natural Sciences, and Economics. 

Course offer to Exchange students – Fall 2025 

Depending on the programme, typically range between 3,000 and 6,000 EUR /semester

Outgoing Fee-Paying International BME Students

If you’re thinking of joining BME as a full-degree student, you’ll be happy to know that BME is part of Erasmus+ and other mobility programmes! That means that once you’re here, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for study abroad options and exchange programmes, enriching your academic experience even further. 

Students currently enrolled at BME can also benefit from global opportunities: 

Erasmus+ and International Mobility Programmes

  • Erasmus+ Mobility – Study or do your internship abroad in Europe with financial support. 
  • ATHENS Programme – One-week intensive programmes in top EU technical universities.
  • PES Scheme – Research or internships beyond Europe. 

Who can apply?

Enrolled BME students with satisfactory academic standing and active student status. 

Application periods vary – check with the BME Department for International Relations.
