The Doctoral School provides world-class education in science and technology in the fields of mechanical engineering sciences. The study and research environment is provided by the departments of BME's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with industrial partners. Research areas cover all fields of mechanical engineering, including (but not restricted to) material sciences, fluid mechanics and machinery, energy engineering, building engineering and process engineering, design & manufacturing technology, mechatronics, optics and engineering informatics, and applied mechanics.
For our PhD programs, general minimum requirements are an eligible MSc degree, document of English language proficiency, and and successful admission exam. Candidates must demonstrate the necessary background knowledge to carry out successful work in their chosen research field. You can study at BME with a scholarship or as a self-funded student, by paying tuition fees. Various scholarships help you cover tuition fees and your living expenses during your studies. Successful PhD students may receive additional support from research grants.
Our program focuses on independent research under supervision. PhD students complete advanced courses, and improve their presentation skills by guided teaching and participation in international conferences. BME’s national and international academic and industrial partners provide a lively research environment. PhD degree is awarded based on the candidate’s published results and a thesis defense.

Our PhD degree certifies your ability to conduct research either individually or as a team member.
