The highest level of the faculty’s education is represented by the Kandó Kálmán Doctoral School, where the PhD students are being prepared for scientific research and a possible career as a professor and researcher. The program deals with transportation systems, vehicle industry, and logistics related questions with frequently updated, actual, and relevant topics. The 4-year program lets the students take part in basic subjects and professional courses, teaching activities, and individual scientific research tasks. The research activity is being supported by a supervisor, and the PhD students will show their results through their publications and later in their PhD dissertation.

Start September

For our PhD program the general minimum requirements are an eligible MSc degree, a document of English language proficiency, and successful admission tests. Detailed information on the general admission procedure (deadlines and requirements) can be found on our E-admission page.

You can study at BME with a scholarship or as a self-funded student, by paying tuition fees. Various scholarships help you cover tuition fees and your living expenses during your studies. Successful PhD students may receive additional support from research grants.

Structure of program

Our program focuses on independent research under supervision. PhD students complete advanced courses, and improve their presentation skills by guided teaching and participation in international conferences. BME’s national and international academic and industrial partners provide a lively research environment. PhD degree is awarded based on the candidate’s published results and a thesis defense.
