The Preparatory MSc programme in English leads to an MSc application to the Structural Engineering programme in two (or one) semester(s). This Pre-engineering programme consists of final BSc Structural (Civil) Engineering subjects (e.g. Reinforced Concrete Structures, Steel Structures, Geotechnics, Structural Analysis, etc.) and gives the students solid basic knowledge and skills to begin their MSc studies in Structural Engineering.
Minimum requirements are high school diploma and the document of English language proficiency*. There is a written and oral online entrance exam.
You can study at BME with a scholarship or as a self-funded student, by paying tuition fees. Various scholarships help you cover tuition fees and your living expenses during your studies. Successful PhD students may receive additional support from research grants.
All subjects are compulsory subjects for all students in both semesters. In addition, we offer specialized subjects and courses developing specific competences necessary for Structural Engineering MSc programme. Students also get an insight into the university's training and study system, get familiar with its infrastructure, and get into the rhythm of student life in Budapest.
The pre-MSc in Structural Engineering programme prepares students for BME's Structural Engineering master programme. Students who successfully complete the programme will automatically be admitted to MSc in Structural Engineering programme in English. Employment is directly possible after the MSc degree in the field of structural engineering such as bridge construction and design, geotechnics, building construction and design. After fulfilling the proper professional experience graduate students can work as experts in the field of their specialization. After obtaining an MSc, our most dedicated students can enroll in our PhD school to become highly qualified researchers or even pursue an academic career.
